Novara of Sicily
the knowledge and flavors of the Peloritani Mountains

The small and characteristic village of the Peloritani Mountains stands on a cliff that towers over a river and in which you can hear the rush of the San Giorgio torrent that still feeds ancient horizontal wheel mills. We will visit one that is still in operation to witness the pressing of grains to obtain flour.

With a short walk we will reach the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, its treasure and the crypt.

We will walk through the alleys to savour the ancient atmosphere of the village and we will have important encounters with artisans who preserve ancient crafts such as a master stonemason and embroiderers using bobbin lace and crochet.

We will go to a cheesemaker's class to assist and be involved in the production of Maiorchino, a Slow Food presidium, and in the preparation of ricotta.

From the village we can go on excursions on foot, by e-bike and quad to the nearby Rocca Salvatesta, to Santa Barbara or to the Argimusco Megaliths.
