The Tales of Sicily project
I have always enjoyed listening to stories about Sicily.
The ancient tales of my family, the stories taken from books, the popular songs, the music, the dances and the "cunti" of the storytellers that involve me in the narration of a past that continues to be alive through these expressions.
Important intangible assets that spread the cultural and social history of a territory.
Altrodove was born to introduce Sicily to the traveler through the stories of its inhabitants, its professions, its nature, its history, its food and wine products, its art and culture. It wants to connect people and make them live direct and authentic travel experiences to discover a territory deeply tied to its roots.
It will do so by involving local businesses, communities and tourism operators to have a sincere approach and to promote the sustainable economic development of the Island.

My Sicilian tale
When people ask me where I come from, I like to say that I am Sicilian.
Ever since I was a child, I have breathed the air of my homeland and savoured every nuance of it. My family nourished me with traditions at the table and through stories of life. During holidays spent in the village in the Palermo hinterland where my father was born, I learned what community, belonging, simplicity and rural culture mean. I still remember with emotion the train journeys with my grandmother to reach those places where I rediscovered and built part of my roots.
The island that saw me grow up taught me to love and protect it and to commit myself to improving it.
I chose to study cultural tourism and specialised in rural and food and wine tourism, recognising responsible tourism as the most suitable means of promoting Sicily and the identity of its people.
My work experience in local travel companies gave me the technical tools to put this intention into practice.
Altrodove was created to give voice to this intention of mine.
It is a work project that introduces Sicily to curious and aware travellers through direct experiences that involve them in community life, the rhythms of nature and the cultural events that the island offers throughout the year, taking them back in time to their family origins.
I want to convey the sense of belonging to the land that is typical of my community and ensure that those who want to learn about Sicily do so by reading all the chapters in depth, as if it were a compelling story that stays with you and moves you.
