Service Description

The historic Ballarò market welcomes us in the morning with its colors, aromas, and the "abbanniate" (shoutouts) of fish, meat, olives, and vegetables vendors, unchanged for centuries, alongside stalls selling products from Arab and Indian cultures, a symbol of integration. We will walk through it with an exceptional guide who will tell us about its history and social projects, until we reach the Church and Cloister of San Giovanni degli Eremiti, a stroll along the alleys of the ancient Albergheria neighborhood where we will encounter numerous artistic murals. We will continue our tour to the nearby Palazzo dei Normanni to visit its rooms, garden, and Palatine Chapel. Passing by, with a gaze upwards toward the numerous palm trees of Villa Bonanno, we will reach the Cathedral to visit its interior, roof, and royal tombs. Strolling along the Cassaro, we'll reach Piazza Vigliena, where we'll meet and be introduced to an artisan who creates works of art based on the most famous Sicilian hat, the coppola. With her, we'll create pieces that you can customize and take home. A visit to the Martorana Church and then a relaxing stop at the Monastery of Santa Caterina will conclude our walk with a tasting of traditional monastic sweets and a tour of the internal cloister.
