A walk that takes us to the heart of one of Sicily's four regional parks, to discover some of the places in the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy circuit: Petralia Soprana, Geraci Siculo, and Gangi. A three-day itinerary that begins with an urban trek through the medieval streets of Petralia Soprana, named Borgo dei Borghi (Most Beautiful Villages in Italy) in 2015. The first leg of the walk takes us from Petralia Soprana to Geraci Siculo, passing through one of the most beautiful places in the Madonie: Piano Catarineci. Walking among oaks, beech trees, and holly, we'll follow part of the Via dei Màrcati (March Road) to the monumental Bevaio della SS. Trinità (Water Fountain), at the entrance to the village that ranked third in the 2021 edition of Il Borgo dei Borghi (The Village of Villages). In the afternoon, an urban trek through its narrow streets, in an ancient historic center dotted with brightly colored bell towers and narrow streets that open onto sweeping views of the nearby valleys and mountains, such as the evocative "Salto del Ventimiglia" or the ruins of the castle, which overlooks the endless landscape. Following this, a workshop will be held to make "agneddri pasquali," hand-painted biscuits, and caciforma, a stretched curd cheese shaped like an animal, experiences that will immerse us in the centuries-old traditions of the area. The third day of walking, following part of the Sentiero Italia, takes us from Petralia Soprana to Gangi, another of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, named Borgo dei Borghi in 2014. A spectacular "cascade" of houses, this town boasts sweeping horizons, extraordinary medieval architecture, and a long history. Here we'll meet Fabrizio Fazio, the master drummer, whose primordial sounds transport us to distant places and times, while remaining in his small workshop. Then, we'll go on an urban trek through the village's alleys, from the cathedral to the castle and all the way to Palazzo Bongiorno, concluding our extraordinary journey.
