Our encounter with the Danisinni neighborhood begins with a "handshake," a mural that welcomes us before arriving in the large square, usually filled with the cries of children at play. One of many that will serve as the backdrop for our itinerary through a little-known neighborhood of Palermo, which has been experiencing a significant socio-cultural renaissance for a decade thanks to the presence of Fra Mauro Billetta and many cooperating associations. A community worker welcomes us and will guide us to the symbolic sites of the "regeneration of beauty" project, recounting their history and development over time. An artist from the "Cunto Itinerante" will enrich the passages with local stories and legends, as well as epic tales of chivalry. From the square, we will reach the Arab steps to admire "the river of life," a long mural that decorates the walls of the houses and evokes the flora and fauna of the Papireto River, one of the three rivers that once crossed Palermo and now flows beneath the neighborhood. We'll continue to visit the Church of Sant'Agnese and its crypt, which regularly hosts exhibitions, before moving on to meeting and study areas such as the library. Crossing the square known as the "Agorà," we'll reach the emerging circular village, which will house shops, a symbol of positive change and new job prospects for the neighborhood. We'll also visit the farm that shelters animals from vulnerable situations and the vegetable garden managed by people with new opportunities for social inclusion. We'll conclude the tour at the Literary Café, where refreshments featuring typical Sicilian products will be served.
