Transhumance at donkey pace
At a slow and swaying pace, like the gait of the donkey that you have alongside between Enna and Gangi (PA)
Service Description
This donkey trek teaches us to savor the breaks, enjoying the immersion in nature, discovering small villages, and reveling in the rest after the effort of a steep climb. This is what you experience along the 45 kilometers of the old royal track that once connected Calascibetta, in the province of Enna, to Gangi, a Madonie village in the province of Palermo. You'll travel it accompanied by expert guides and donkeys twice a year: in spring and autumn. To each their own "sciccareddo" for this trek, where each person's task will be to care for and lead one of the donkeys entrusted to them for the transhumance. Stops at farmhouses for dinner and an overnight stay along ancient paths allow you to savor this ancient rural tradition.
